0Stella announces her first single from forthcoming debut album, "Glitter On The Dancefloor", produced by Devon Lougheed (Skye Wallace) and Altered By Mom. “Glitter on the Dancefloor” is a rhythmic, feel-good dance track with a steady backbeat and a fun, disco vibe.
Having featured on CBC, and X92 FM, Edmonton-based Irish-Canadian rocker 0Stella is back with her debut LP Freefall, produced by Devon Lougheed of Skye Wallace and Altered By Mom.
0Stella’s usual alt-rock Irish fusion has sidestepped and landed on an infectious mix between Alternative Rock and Top 40 for this track. Written with Juno nominated producer Brad Simons, 0Stella brought the track to Devon Lougheed in January 2021. The two embarked on a year-long long-distance recording session between Edmonton and Toronto to create two concept albums, Freefall (2022) and Skyward (2023).
Constant touring throughout 2019 for her Little Yes, Little Know EP, gained her features on CBC, X92.9 FM, The Hawk and 91X FM, Calgary Herald and Beatroute. Through catchy pop melodies with oft-politically charged lyrics, 0Stella draws influence from Garbage, PJ Harvey and The Frames. She has shared stages with Skye Wallace, Goodnight, Sunrise and Heather Valley.
About the new track, 0Stella says:
“In the summer of 2020 I didn’t want to write about the year we were having. I focused on what I was looking forward to: closeness, dancing and sweat. I was inspired by memories of moshpits and my favourite gay clubs I used to go to in Dublin and London’s Soho. ‘Glitter..’ is an indulgent momentary escape from the world around us.”
The zero-waste advocate (hence the zero in her name) will embark on a Canada-wide solo cycling album tour in March 2022 that will focus almost exclusively on house concerts. If you want to host a show, details including a map of the tour route and a Kickstarter campaign can be found at 0Stella.com.
